ELIRA Recruitment
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 October 2026
1. About this policy
ELIRA Recruitment is a specialist recruitment business. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information in connection with our recruitment services, client relationships, website and business operations.
We are committed to handling personal information responsibly and transparently. Where the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and Australian Privacy Principles apply to us, we will handle personal information in accordance with those requirements.
2. Personal information we may collect
Depending on how you interact with ELIRA, we may collect information including:
- name, email address, telephone number and location;
- CVs, employment history, education, qualifications, skills and professional experience;
- current and expected remuneration, notice period, work rights, availability and role preferences;
- information discussed during screening calls, interviews and recruitment processes, including our recruitment notes;
- information supplied by referees and reference-check information where relevant and authorised;
- client and prospective-client contact details, role briefs and recruitment requirements;
- website enquiry information and correspondence with us; and
- other information you choose to provide that is reasonably relevant to our recruitment or business activities.
We do not seek sensitive information unless it is reasonably necessary for a legitimate recruitment purpose or otherwise permitted by law. Where consent is required for the collection of sensitive information, we will seek it.
3. How we collect information
We may collect personal information directly from you when you contact us, provide a CV, speak with us about an opportunity, participate in a recruitment process, provide a reference or submit an enquiry through our website.
We may also collect information from publicly available professional sources, referrals, referees you authorise us to contact, clients, professional networking platforms and other lawful recruitment sources. Where appropriate, we will make you aware that we have collected your information and why.
Our free CV checker reads your CV inside your own web browser. We do not receive, store or see the CV or job ad you check unless you choose to send your CV to us at the end, in which case we handle it in the same way as any other CV submitted through our website.
4. Why we collect, use and disclose information
We may use personal information to:
- assess suitability for employment opportunities;
- communicate with candidates about roles and recruitment processes;
- present candidates to clients where the candidate has agreed to the relevant submission;
- arrange interviews, manage feedback and support an offer or placement process;
- conduct reference checks where authorised;
- provide recruitment services to clients and manage client relationships;
- respond to enquiries and operate, administer and improve our business and website;
- maintain appropriate business, compliance and recruitment records; and
- comply with legal obligations and protect our legitimate business interests.
5. Candidate submissions and consent
ELIRA does not intend to send a candidate’s CV or identifiable candidate profile to a prospective employer without the candidate’s knowledge and agreement to that submission.
Before presenting a candidate to a client, we may confirm the client, opportunity and relevant information to be shared and record the candidate’s consent. Consent may be recorded electronically or in writing. A candidate may decline a proposed submission.
Giving consent for one submission does not mean ELIRA may submit the candidate to unrelated clients or opportunities without appropriate further discussion or authority.
6. Who we may disclose information to
Where reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, personal information may be disclosed to prospective employers and clients, referees where authorised, professional advisers, and service providers that support our technology, communications, document storage, website, administration or business operations.
We do not sell candidate personal information.
7. Overseas service providers
Some technology or service providers used in operating our business may process or store information outside Australia. The locations can depend on the provider and service used. Where applicable, we take reasonable steps appropriate to the circumstances to protect personal information handled through service providers and to comply with applicable privacy requirements.
8. Storage and security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Information may be held electronically using business systems and service providers, and in other records reasonably required to operate our recruitment business.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. We review our information-handling practices and restrict access to personal information to people who need it for legitimate business purposes.
9. Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably required for the purposes for which it was collected, our ongoing recruitment and business activities, legitimate record-keeping needs, dispute management and applicable legal requirements. When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete, destroy or de-identify it where appropriate.
10. Access and correction
You may contact us to request access to personal information we hold about you or to ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. We may need to verify your identity before responding and may decline access where permitted by law.
11. Privacy questions and complaints
If you have a privacy question, would like to request access or correction, or wish to make a complaint about how ELIRA has handled your personal information, contact us at hello@elirarecruitment.com.
We will review privacy complaints and respond within a reasonable period. If the Privacy Act applies and you are not satisfied with our response, you may be able to raise the matter with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices, services or legal obligations. The current version will be published on this website with its last-updated date.
